Summary of Functions
The Dispensary Manager is responsible for the overall functioning of the Opioid Treatment Program Dispensary Staff. S/he will coordinate with the Medical Director to manage the medication inventory. This position must maintain the safety, efficiency, and overall functioning of the dispensary. The nature of this position is fast-paced and requires frequent issue resolution. The Dispensary Manager will report directly to the Clinic Administrator and will work closely with the Medical Director to ensure quality clinical care.
The Dispensary Manger should adhere to and value the philosophy of harm reduction, including that Medication for Opioid Use Disorder is recognized as the preferred method of addressing opioid addiction, and that every patient deserves to be treated with respect, compassion, and dignity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Medical Providers are responsible for preserving the integrity of the Camas Health Recovery Center properties by performing the following duties:
Ensures implementation of all clinic policies and procedures; recommend policy and procedure updates and changes as necessary.
Ensures security of medications, patient records and any other documentation required by the MSO, the FDA, DEA and/or state agencies.
Ensures that the clinic protects the rights and confidentiality of all patients to provide each patient with the required medical and clinical care.
Responsible for acceptance of the delivery of medications.
Coordinate and work with the Program Sponsor regarding the following:
Continually evaluate the needs and effectiveness of current dispensary practices including: ordering medications, dispensing, accurately executing medication orders, maintenance of medication records and destruction of medications.
Maintain accurate records of all transactions of the dispensary necessary to ensure accurate control over and accountability for all drugs as required by applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
Assist with any inspection conducted by the Washington Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission (PQAC) or the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Work closely with the Dispensary Managers at other WCDC OTP locations to ensure consistency of procedures across the sites. Assist remote sites with trouble-shooting dispensary process at needed.
Serve as a liaison with other departments and with community health care providers as needed to coordinate the best possible client care.
Work with local jails around patients needing jail dispensed medication.
Ensure the dispensary is adequately staffed at all times and provide back-up as needed. Provide dispensing services no less than 20% time.
Provide conflict resolution between Dispensary staff and patients when needed. Ensure strong staff team cohesion and collaboration.
Participate in site Manager Team meetings and represent the interests of staff.
Approve time sheets and leave requests submitted by staff.
Maintain regular communication with the MSO and attends meetings as requested.
Conduct performance evaluations of dispensary staff in accordance with agency policies and state regulations.
Work with Human Resources regarding staff rewards and discipline as needed.
Maintain a strong policy knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local rules, laws and regulations and maintains compliance.
Familiar with standards required by Board of Health, OSHA, etc. and the application of such.
Knowledge and compliance with HIPAA policies and procedures.
Participate in Federal and State substance abuse training and continuing education as needed to safely and effectively perform in the position.
Interacts with all staff in a positive and motivational fashion supporting the company’s mission and Best Practice Patient Experience.
Complies with other ad hoc requests and projects as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
